Insurance in
Ireland can be expensive or difficult to obtain for new riders.
Insurance companies generally will quote a rider with a full
licence and at least 1 years no claims history but a rider may
be asked to complete training and assessment to a certain
standard, see link on the right. This often depends on the
riders age, licence type and the size, power and value of the
bike to be insured. To get the best deal follow the points set
out below. |

1. Speak to each insurance
company for a quote on the bike you want before you buy it. |
| 2.
Compare policy detail, make sure it covers you for what you need (this
will vary with each company) |
| 3.
Buy a factory restricted bike if you have a restricted licence. |
4. Complete a training and assessment course. |
5.
Provide as much security as possible for the bike (alarm, chain, anchor,
garaging) |
6. Pass your test as soon
as possible. |
